About the Area Maintenance Head Role

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) is seeking an experienced Area Maintenance Head to oversee daily maintenance activities within a Petrochemical plant located in Jubail, Eastern Saudi Arabia. This role is crucial for ensuring that all corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance for mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment is executed by contractors in strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The primary objective is to guarantee sector availability, reliability, and operational continuity. This position is specifically open to Saudi Nationals only and requires significant experience in the Oil & Gas maintenance sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of all maintenance jobs assigned to contractors, covering mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation aspects of the Petrochemical plant, ensuring adherence to Company standards.
  • Maintain regular reporting within the CMMS system regarding maintenance execution at SATORP's Plant.
  • Provide necessary support to the planning and scheduling supervisor.
  • Assist the company's reliability department in conducting bad actor analysis.
  • Prepare weekly reports and actively participate in Maintenance meetings to discuss findings and action plans.
  • Manage day-to-day site activities effectively to ensure smooth operations.
  • Enhance the knowledge and skills of personnel through job-specific training, coordinating with the Head of HR.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety requirements during job execution phases.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas maintenance is required for candidates with a High School diploma.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas maintenance is required for candidates with a Diploma.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas maintenance is required for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrated good knowledge of refining equipment.
  • Experience in piloting maintenance contracts.
  • Good knowledge of safety rules and regulations.

  • Document observations and consolidate findings for the expertise team, such as gathering operational leak history from the plant and reporting it in a structured format.
  • Translate complex operational problems into understandable scopes of work suitable for submission to external suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure issues are captured, recommendations are implemented, and execution is tracked through to completion, identifying delays early, highlighting risks, and escalating bottlenecks as needed.
  • Organize and facilitate regular progress meetings and follow up on all decisions made.

  • Possess a hands-on and proactive attitude, with the ability to spend time on-site gathering information and validating data directly with operators.

Key Responsibilities and Operational Duties

The HYCO Operator will maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company and industry safety processes, including the proper documentation of safety-related activities. Responsibilities include operating the HYCO Steam Methane Reformer, CO2 recovery units, and ancillary equipment, such as water treatment units, in accordance with established Work Instruction Procedures. The operator will also manage the pipeline network to supply hydrogen, steam, and CO2 to customers, and oversee oxygen and nitrogen pipeline products as part of the operational team. This role involves providing operational support and guidance during plant commissioning, maintaining accurate document control, and monitoring quality assurance initiatives. Safety and Compliance Management

A core aspect of this role is ensuring the safety of all personnel through the APQ Basic Safety Practice program, which includes Safety Work Permits, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Confined Space procedures. Active participation in executing, organizing, and auditing these practices is expected to foster Air Products' safety culture. The operator must ensure that Air Products and APQ standards, along with global best practices for Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S), productivity, reliability, quality, and customer service, are upheld. An Associate Technical Degree (2-year certificate) will be considered based on demonstrated years of experience and competence. A minimum of 5 years of plant operations experience is required, with demonstrated knowledge of Hydrogen/SMR/acid gas removal units production plants being a significant advantage. Operators are expected to achieve 'Level 1 / Board Level' status within 2 to 4 years, with evaluations conducted during the training period. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, a strong commitment to employee involvement, team building, and diversity are necessary. The ability to communicate effectively between operations and maintenance teams, and with customers at the board level on a daily basis, is essential. Proficiency in English speaking and writing is required.
