About the Role
GE Vernova is seeking a Technical Expert to join their team in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is responsible for providing post-sales customer support, including repairs, technical assistance, and field service. The role involves influencing budgets and operating plans within established policies, requiring significant autonomy and operational acumen. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the resolution of post-sales technical customer issues, providing Level 1, 2, and 3 technical support.
- Resolve post-sales technical issues, escalating skill sets as complexity increases.
- Develop functional expertise, potentially acting as a subject matter expert and providing thought leadership.
- Influence policy and ensure delivery within the area of responsibility, coordinating with other organizational parts.
- Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Utilize an understanding of industry trends to inform decision-making.
- Lead teams to find creative solutions within complex manufacturing processes involving technical variety and interdependent production cycles.
- Employ sophisticated operational, product management, manufacturing, or engineering techniques.
- Collaborate with adjacent functions to effectively solve issues.
- Evaluate the quality of received information and question conflicting data during analysis.
- Utilize multiple internal and external resources beyond one's own function to support decision-making.
- Potentially lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
- Present business or technical discipline solutions to leadership.
- Communicate complex messages and negotiate primarily internally to gain adoption of different viewpoints.
- Influence peers to take action and potentially negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically with GEV HVDC & FACTS Equipment.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the energy field, with at least 5 years dedicated to transmission networks.
- Strong knowledge of transmission equipment.
- Strong knowledge of synchro-condensers.
- Ability to handle specialized tools including pressure pumps, multi-meters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, and field generators.
- Proficiency in understanding and implementing technical drawings such as wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and General Arrangement drawings.
- Strong computer skills utilizing the MS Office Software Suite.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Good experience in the engineering of transmission networks.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Post-sales support and technical support expertise.
- Field service and repair capabilities.
- Experience with GEV HVDC & FACTS Equipment.
- Transmission network engineering and transmission equipment knowledge.
- Expertise in synchro-condensers.
- Proficiency with specialized tools such as pressure pumps, multi-meters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, and field generators.
- Ability to interpret and implement technical drawings, including wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and General Arrangement drawings.
- Proficiency in MS Office Software Suite.
- Experience in outage support.
- Familiarity with instruments and controls, and PLCs for controls training.
- Familiarity with computer network systems and switches.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both business and technical personnel.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and take ownership of onsite activities.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, and to work overtime as required.
- Proven experience with successful installations and outages.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position based in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The role requires a minimum of 10 years of overall experience. Relocation assistance is provided for this position. Familiarity with EX2100e will be considered an added advantage. Arabic and French fluency are considered preferable.
