About the Role
Bupa Arabia is seeking a Consultant - Family Medicine & Geriatrics to join their team in Jeddah. This full-time position focuses on providing comprehensive primary care through telemedicine, with a primary emphasis on older adults. The role addresses the unique medical, functional, cognitive, and psychosocial needs of the geriatric population, requiring 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Core Responsibilities in Patient Care
The Consultant will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care through virtual consultations, ensuring continuity of care and optimal outcomes. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering comprehensive telemedicine care for family medicine, adults, and pediatrics, with a focus on older adults, through virtual assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Conducting comprehensive clinical evaluations, including history taking, virtual physical assessment, medication review, and geriatric assessment.
- Developing and implementing individualized, evidence-based management plans, encompassing medication optimization, preventive care, lifestyle interventions, and referrals.
- Managing complex geriatric conditions such as multimorbidity, frailty, cognitive impairment, and polypharmacy, ensuring continuity and coordination of care.
- Promoting healthy aging through preventive care, chronic disease management, population health initiatives, and value-based care principles.
Quality Assurance and Professional Development
This role requires a commitment to high standards of practice, continuous learning, and adherence to regulatory frameworks:
- Ensuring compliance with clinical, ethical, regulatory, and telemedicine standards, while maintaining accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation.
- Maintaining current knowledge of evidence-based practice, telemedicine regulations, and geriatric care through continuous professional development.
- Contributing to clinical governance by participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, research activities, and regulatory compliance programs.
- Participating in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities to stay current with advancements in geriatric medicine and telemedicine.
Telehealth Platform Proficiency and Collaboration
The Consultant will leverage digital health technologies and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams:
- Demonstrating proficiency in telemedicine platforms and digital health technologies, including video consultations, secure communication, and EHR systems.
- Participating in ongoing training and adopting platform enhancements and digital health best practices.
- Collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, caregivers, and community services to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.
- Providing clinical expertise and recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making and integrated care planning.
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
A core aspect of this role is upholding the highest standards of patient safety and ensuring a positive patient experience:
- Upholding the highest standards of patient safety by delivering safe, evidence-based care and adhering to established clinical safety protocols.
- Identifying, reporting, and escalating patient safety risks, incidents, and quality concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
- Counseling patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, medication use, potential adverse effects, and follow-up care to support informed decision-making and medication safety.
- Delivering compassionate, patient-centered consultations through effective communication, comprehensive clinical assessment, empathy, and shared decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for this Consultant position are required to possess:
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in Family Medicine and Geriatrics.
- Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive primary care, with a specific focus on the unique needs of older adults.
- Proficiency in delivering healthcare services through telemedicine platforms.
