The Role of Assistant Manager, In-Room Dining

The Assistant Manager In Room Dining (IRD) is responsible for overseeing the entire in-room dining operation, ensuring a seamless and satisfying experience for all guests. This role focuses on maintaining Raffles' high service standards, from order taking and delivery to the presentation and description of menu items and beverages. The Assistant Manager acts as a key liaison, ensuring efficient operations across all shifts and contributing to overall guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Ensure compliance with Fairmont standards and regulations to support safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Serve as a liaison between servers, guests, and the kitchen team.
• Oversee and assist with daily operations across morning, evening, and overnight shifts, including cleaning duties and requisition of necessary supplies.
• Manage guest selection processes, ensuring proper placement and distribution.
• Coordinate shift staffing and manage the table dressing area.
• Supervise tabletop presentation for all meal services.
• Maintain a visible floor presence during shifts, greeting and interacting with guests.
• Prepare shift schedules based on hotel occupancy and special functions.
• Address and resolve constructive guest feedback effectively.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the entire menu.
• Provide support to other Food & Beverage outlets as needed.
• Manage inventory of equipment, linen, and other supplies.
• Monitor and control the Point of Sale (POS) system for guest checks and hotel reports.
• Assume responsibilities of the Restaurant Manager during their absence.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager or Supervisory role.
• Prior experience in a 5-star or 5-diamond hotel environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, including preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with health department rules and regulations.
• Understanding of liquor laws and regulations.
