About the Role: Commis 1 – Staff Canteen

An opportunity has arisen for a Commis 1 to join the Staff Canteen team at Jumeirah Jabal Omar in Makkah. This full-time role involves supporting kitchen operations and food preparation for the staff canteen, ensuring adherence to established recipes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute orders from the Chef de Partie accurately, following instructions and recommendations to complete daily tasks.
• Gather, measure, mix, and prepare meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings according to established recipes and specifications.
• Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and meats with precision, demonstrating proficiency in cutting, seasoning, and marinating as required.
• Perform cooking techniques and plating to exact specifications provided by the Demi Chef or Chef de Partie, ensuring high standards.
• Document inventory of kitchen supplies, monitor stock levels, and notify supervisors of low stock situations to maintain sufficient supplies.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as braising pans, ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers effectively, ensuring correct settings for cooking and baking temperatures.

Qualifications and Experience

• 1-2 years of experience in various kitchen areas, preferably within the luxury hospitality industry.
• College Degree in Culinary Arts or a similar field from an accredited Culinary School.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Environment

This role is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, within the Jumeirah Jabal Omar Hotel. The position is full-time and involves working in a dynamic kitchen environment focused on serving the staff canteen.
