The Role: Faculty Member in Biology Preparatory Year

Batterjee Medical College is seeking a full-time Faculty Member in Biology for its Preparatory Year Program. This role is central to delivering foundational biological sciences to pre-medical students, ensuring they develop a strong academic grounding and are well-prepared for advanced medical studies. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Biology lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions tailored for preparatory year students.
• Simplify complex biological concepts to facilitate strong foundational understanding among beginner-level students.
• Implement student-centered teaching methods to enhance engagement and optimize learning outcomes.
• Effectively utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard and other digital teaching tools.
• Prepare and administer comprehensive assessments using platforms like ExamSoft or similar tools.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress reports.
• Provide academic guidance and support to students as they transition into medical education.
• Identify students who may be at academic risk and provide timely, appropriate intervention.
• Encourage active student participation and foster critical thinking skills.
• Adhere strictly to academic policies, quality standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of course curricula.
• Submit all required course reports and academic documentation punctually.
• Actively participate in departmental meetings and various academic activities.
• Collaborate effectively with fellow faculty members to align teaching strategies and curriculum delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• A PhD in Biology or a closely related scientific field is required.
• Demonstrated experience teaching Biology, with a preference for experience in preparatory year or foundation programs.
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of teaching experience in a relevant academic setting.

Essential Skills and Tools

• Strong pedagogical skills with the ability to clearly explain scientific concepts to students at an introductory level.
• Proficiency in using Learning Management Systems (LMS), specifically Blackboard.
