About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a supervision consultancy team for a significant infrastructure development project. This full-time position is based in the Makkah Region, with work sites located near Jeddah and Makkah. The role involves assisting the Resident Engineer in overseeing mechanical and utility construction activities to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

Project Context and Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in the supervision of mechanical and utility works on site, approximately 100 km north of Jeddah. Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising and monitoring mechanical and utility construction activities in line with approved drawings and project specifications.
• Assisting the Resident Engineer (Mechanical) in the oversight of mechanical infrastructure development.
• Inspecting and supervising the installation of potable water supply networks.
• Monitoring works related to firefighting systems and their associated infrastructure.
• Supervising the installation of gas distribution networks.
• Monitoring the construction of stormwater drainage and sanitary sewage systems.
• Supervising the installation of irrigation systems and landscape-related mechanical works.
• Ensuring contractor compliance with approved method statements, drawings, and quality standards.
• Reviewing contractor submissions, including shop drawings and material submittals.
• Conducting site inspections and quality checks to verify proper construction practices.
• Assisting in the preparation of inspection reports, site reports, and progress updates.
• Identifying and reporting technical issues, non-conformances, and delays to the Resident Engineer.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in infrastructure construction or supervision projects.
• Demonstrated experience in utility infrastructure projects, including potable water, firefighting, gas distribution, stormwater drainage, sanitary sewage, and irrigation systems.
• Previous experience working with engineering consultancy firms in a supervision capacity is preferred.
