About the Role

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture is seeking a highly skilled Senior Road Engineer to join its Project and Construction Management team. This full-time position is within the Infrastructure Division and focuses on mega civil engineering and transportation projects, specifically involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. The role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Senior Road Engineer will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects related to road works. This includes overseeing quality control, reviewing drawings, conducting value engineering, and following up on technical construction methods. The role requires close coordination with other senior specialists across disciplines such as structures, drainage, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical control for all road works and coordinate with discipline specialists and quality control personnel.
• Resolve design issues where possible, or coordinate design issues with home office support.
• Offer technical advice on proposed design changes.
• Oversee the Contractor’s technical submissions, including shop drawings, material submittals, and design proposals.
• Conduct final reviews of all relevant Contractor’s drawings, schedules, and material submittals to ensure compliance with project design objectives.
• Assess and provide technical reports on any Value Engineering proposals.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the Road Engineering department and the Technical Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialty or major in Road Design, or equivalent work experience.
• Formal qualifications or affiliations with RICS, IQS, ICES, or CIOB.
• Over 15 years of applicable experience in project management, primarily as a Consultant, on mega construction projects. Candidates with exclusive contractor experience will not be considered.
• Demonstrated experience in at least one or more road projects. Candidates without clear road experience will not be considered.
• Valid membership with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).

Additional Requirements

For non-Saudi candidates, a transferable Iqama is required. The position is based in Riyadh.
