About the Role

Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Receptionist (Front Office Agent) for its Swissôtel Al Maqam property in Makkah, Makkah Region. This full-time position is part of the Tamayyaz Program, specifically for Saudi Nationals with minimal to no prior experience, including fresh graduates and those with up to 6 months of relevant experience.

Hotel Context

Swissôtel Al Maqam is the second Swissôtel to open in Saudi Arabia, located within the Abraj Al Bait complex in Makkah. This five-star hotel offers 1624 rooms and suites, designed to complement Arab culture, and is situated in close proximity to the Grand Mosque, overlooking the Ka’aba. The hotel features two restaurants, an executive lounge, meeting rooms, and a business center, with private entrances for guest convenience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for daily arrivals, including room allocation and addressing guest special requests.
  • Register and process check-ins for all arriving guests.
  • Update and verify guest information in the system post check-in.
  • Manage cashiering duties, foreign exchange transactions, and night audit tasks, including guest settlement upon departure.
  • Handle walk-in counter reservations and process call-in reservations when the reservations section is closed.
  • Provide courteous and prompt service to guests, responding to all requests and inquiries.
  • Resolve guest complaints and requests, liaising with relevant departments for follow-up and reporting to supervisors.
  • Issue guest room key cards and ensure guest security.
  • Check and convey messages to guests.
  • Assist at the Information counter, Foreign Exchange, Night Audit, and Business Centre as assigned.
  • Review logbooks, verify outstanding items, and follow up on pending matters.
  • Check hotel status, occupancy, functions, groups, and VIPs.
  • File daily reception reports and documents systematically.
  • Print panic reports at least twice per shift.
  • Attend briefings, take notes, and ensure follow-up actions are taken.
  • Focus on guest needs, maintaining eye contact and acknowledging all guests at the desk.
  • Communicate essential information to the next shift for seamless operations.
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and management regarding VIPs.
  • Drive upselling initiatives.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • This program is for Saudi Nationals Only.
  • Open to candidates with 0-1 year of experience, including fresh graduates.
  • Basic English language proficiency is required.
  • A strong passion for the hospitality field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible roster based on departmental needs.
  • Ability to maintain focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous.

Work Environment and Teamwork

The role requires maintaining a smart, well-groomed appearance with a friendly and cheerful disposition at all times. Employees are expected to show full cooperation and respect within the team and with other departments. Awareness of daily activities and product knowledge of all hotel facilities is essential. The position involves overseeing day-to-day operations, reporting to supervisors, and attending scheduled training classes.
