About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Baker Lead for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role is responsible for the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Baker Lead will oversee and execute the daily production of breads and pastries. This includes preparing doughs and fillings, managing proofing processes, baking, and decorating as required. The role involves reviewing production sheets to understand daily requirements and preparing food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. Safe and appropriate use of baking tools and equipment is essential, as is monitoring the temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management. The Baker Lead will also monitor the quality of food prepared and portion sizes throughout their shift.

Operational and Compliance Duties

Maintaining kitchen logs for food safety program compliance is a key responsibility. The Baker Lead will communicate with the Chef regarding excess food items to assist in planning daily specials. Adherence to and enforcement of food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene, is mandatory. This role also involves assisting management with employee hiring, training, scheduling, evaluations, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching, serving as a role model for the team. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, reporting accidents or unsafe conditions, and completing safety training, is expected. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, protecting company assets, and using clear, professional language in all communications are also part of the role. Developing and maintaining positive working relationships, supporting team goals, and handling sensitive issues with tact and confidentiality are important aspects of this position.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Candidates must be comfortable moving over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping, is necessary. The position also requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a degree from a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School. A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is required. While this role is a lead position, no prior supervisory experience is necessary.
