The Role of Cost Control Engineer

Mohammad Al Habib Real Estate is seeking a Cost Control Engineer to lead Mega Projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to ensuring financial discipline across engineering and construction projects. The Cost Control Engineer is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and controlling project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets by monitoring spending, forecasting costs, identifying variances, and implementing necessary corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project cost control systems, procedures, and reporting tools.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
  • Analyze project performance and conduct comparisons of actual costs against established budgets.
  • Monitor and control project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved project budgets.
  • Coordinate with project teams to gather essential cost-related data, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review and validate contractor and supplier invoices, as well as payment certificates.
  • Identify cost variances and recommend appropriate corrective actions to mitigate financial risks.
  • Support the preparation of project budgets and estimates.
  • Provide critical cost input during project planning and scheduling stages.
  • Generate periodic cost control reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in risk analysis and contribute cost-related input to risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with procurement and contracts departments on all cost-related issues.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in cost control, with a preference for experience within the construction sector.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with project management frameworks.
  • Experience with contract management.
