About the Role

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an experienced CSA Design Engineer to join their team for the Ar Rjum Project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position is integral to a significant greenfield gold project, which includes open pit mining operations, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure. The CSA Design Engineer will be responsible for conducting field investigations, client interviews, and leading the design, development, modification, and evaluation of civil and structural components and processes. This role is crucial for meeting the unique and complex requirements of this large-scale mining project.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct independent scopes of work and technical specifications for Civil/Structural design and field investigations on large-sized projects or assignments in support of a global business unit.
• Lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes, utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Review and approve key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the assigned project.
• Design structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
• Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure the correct material is used based on load or stress requirements.
• Originate and check complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables, including steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
• Develop conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects with specialized or unique requirements.
• Interview client personnel to determine their needs, develop scopes for cost estimates, and participate in proposal preparation and presentation.
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and support implementation and assist with performance reporting.
• Interpret new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.

Qualifications and Experience

This role requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) combined with 13-15 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with 17-19 years of relevant work experience will be considered.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Advanced proficiency in Civil/Structural design.
• Expertise in structural analysis, including statics and dynamics.
• Strong knowledge of materials engineering.
• Experience in developing cost estimates.
• Proficiency in conducting constructability reviews.
• Familiarity with Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs).
• Experience with Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Recognized as an advanced contributor with a specialized skill set and considered a subject matter expert within the discipline.
• Ability to use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

Work Location and Details

The position is a full-time role based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project is located within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh. Relocation assistance is authorized for international candidates on a single status. This is a full-time office/project-based role.
