About the Role

L & T Case Equipment Private Limited is seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires a professional dedicated to ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. The role involves comprehensive management of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) documentation and practices throughout project sites.

Key Responsibilities

The EHS Engineer will be responsible for a range of critical EHS functions. This includes the preparation and management of all EHS-related documentation, such as EHS plans, emergency response plans, and risk assessments. The role involves active participation in EHS meetings with clients and project teams, and reporting EHS issues to the Head Office. A key duty is conducting daily EHS inspections for assigned zones and ensuring that appropriate safe work permits are obtained by engineers and supervisors from clients or main contractors. The engineer will also conduct risk assessments across the site, identifying and communicating high-risk areas. Promoting EHS awareness is crucial, achieved through ensuring weekly toolbox talks are delivered and that all personnel adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Furthermore, the engineer must ensure equipment like ladders and scaffoldings are in good working condition, and that satisfactory health and hygiene conditions are maintained for workers, including adequate facilities and environmental controls. Maintaining proper housekeeping on project sites to prevent incidents and conducting Job EHS Analysis for high-risk activities are also integral to this role. The engineer will encourage the implementation of EHS practices and conduct investigations into incidents or accidents, communicating findings for future prevention. Administering first-aid and seeking medical assistance when necessary are also part of the responsibilities, alongside maintaining all EHS-related documentation.

Integrated Management System Oversight

A significant responsibility includes establishing, monitoring, appraising, and coordinating an upgraded version of an integrated health, safety, and environment management system. This system must conform to ISO-45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001 standards for construction projects. This involves improvising procedure manuals and conducting internal audits based on these standards. The role also entails coordinating external EHS audits and third-party inspections of equipment, as well as preparing the conditions of contract on EHS for subcontractors.

Training and Hazard Management

The EHS Engineer will conduct EHS induction training for new workers and deliver training programs on EHS topics for engineers and workers on-site, as well as participate in HR-organized EHS training. A critical aspect of the role is hazard identification and risk assessment for critical activities, ensuring that method statements incorporate these findings. The engineer is empowered to stop work if any unsafe practices are witnessed and must promote a proactive attitude towards safety and action.

Reporting and Emergency Preparedness

The position requires preparing an Emergency Preparedness Plan and conducting emergency drills to ensure readiness. The EHS Engineer will also prepare EHS reports for the Project Head and IC Head to inform them of the current status of EHS performance. Regular project risk management audits will be conducted monthly, with system audits performed quarterly.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates are expected to have between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in an EHS engineering role. A strong understanding of EHS management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and relevant international standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) is essential. The ability to prepare comprehensive EHS documentation and conduct effective training sessions is required.
