About the Role
Bin Omairah Company, a Saudi-based conglomerate with over 50 years of experience, is seeking an experienced MEP Project Engineer to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The company specializes in infrastructure solutions, real estate development, and renewable technology manufacturing, serving diverse needs across the MENA region. This role is critical for the on-site execution and coordination of wet-utility infrastructure works, focusing on the successful installation, testing, and commissioning of water, sewerage, storm-water, and irrigation networks.
The MEP Project Engineer will ensure all installations adhere to approved drawings and authority standards. This position involves close collaboration with consultants, subcontractors, and authorities to meet project milestones, while diligently monitoring quality, safety, and progress for timely and compliant project delivery. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, this senior-level role plays a key part in project handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the on-site execution of mechanical works for water infrastructure projects, including pump stations, lift stations, transmission pipelines, reservoirs, and networks.
- Oversee the installation of pumps, piping systems, valves, fittings, mechanical equipment, and electromechanical interfaces.
- Coordinate mechanical installation activities to ensure proper testing, commissioning, and handover of systems.
- Review and verify IFC drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals related to mechanical and wet-utility works.
- Ensure strict compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, international standards, and authority requirements.
- Supervise and witness mechanical testing activities, including hydrostatic and pressure testing, leakage testing, flushing and chlorination, and mechanical performance testing of pumps and equipment.
- Coordinate with electrical and ICA/SCADA teams for the proper integration of mechanical systems.
- Monitor material delivery, storage, and installation to ensure the use of approved mechanical materials without wastage.
- Support the preparation and review of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and mechanical handover documentation.
- Coordinate daily site activities with subcontractors, supervisors, and foremen for mechanical works.
- Liaise with consultants, client representatives, authorities, and subcontractors to resolve mechanical and technical issues.
- Monitor construction progress against the approved baseline program and report delays, risks, and corrective actions to the Project Manager.
- Raise and follow up on RFIs, technical queries, and site instructions, proposing practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements, quality standards, and project procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure proper documentation and records are maintained.
- Coordinate with survey teams to verify alignments, elevations, and as-built data related to pipelines and mechanical installations.
- Assist in planning and execution of tie-ins, diversions, shutdowns, and commissioning activities in coordination with stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other infrastructure disciplines (civil, roads, electrical, telecom) to avoid clashes and delays.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, including manpower, equipment, and productivity tracking.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanic Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- 7-12 years of experience in project execution/management, with at least 3 years of proven track record experience in a similar role, ideally within a leading infrastructure company.
- Possession of a PMP or a Project Management related certification.
- Good knowledge of Primavera Project Management software.
- Full understanding of the aspects of project and construction management of complex infrastructure projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and business intelligence skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in the Arabic language.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, adhering to logistics, timescales, and deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
