About the Assistant Quantity Surveyor Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking a Saudi National Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team, focusing on the Rail & Mobility sector. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals and graduates to develop expertise in quantity surveying and commercial management within major transportation infrastructure projects across Saudi Arabia.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial and contract management functions for rail and mobility projects. Key responsibilities include assisting with measurement, valuation, contract administration, cost management, and procurement activities. This involves supporting the administration of construction contracts, such as FIDIC and EPC/Design-Build contracts, and maintaining contract registers and commercial logs. The role requires performing quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and BIM models, assisting in the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), pricing schedules, and interim valuations. Additionally, the position involves supporting cost reporting, budget monitoring, and the identification and valuation of contract variations. Assistance with tender documentation preparation and evaluation, subcontract administration, and payment reviews are also integral to this role.

  • Support contract administration, including correspondence, payment applications, certificates, and variations.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from drawings and BIM models for various infrastructure elements.
  • Assist in preparing BOQs, pricing schedules, and valuations.
  • Contribute to project cost reports, forecasts, and budget monitoring.
  • Support tender preparation, evaluation, and subcontract administration.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, and local regulations.
  • Participate in commercial meetings and document actions.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role must be Saudi Nationals. A Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required. The position is suitable for individuals with 0-1 years of experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, cost management, or contract administration, preferably within infrastructure or construction projects. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail are essential. A basic understanding of quantity surveying principles, contract administration, and construction commercial practices is necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is expected, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills and Competencies

Additional desirable skills include internship or project experience within rail, metro, light rail, highways, or other transport and mobility projects. Familiarity with FIDIC or other standard forms of construction contracts is beneficial. A basic knowledge of cost estimating, quantity measurement standards, and the preparation of Bills of Quantities is advantageous. Exposure to BIM-based quantity take-off software or commercial cost management tools, as well as an understanding of procurement processes and subcontract administration, would be valuable. Knowledge of commercial reporting, cost control, and change management principles is also preferred.
