About the Role at Turner & Townsend
Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position will involve managing the Finance function and acting as a Business Partner to the local leadership team within the Saudi Arabian business, which currently employs approximately 475 staff across the Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Natural Resource sectors and is projected for continued growth.
Job Purpose and Context
Reporting to the KSA Finance Director, the Senior Accountant will be a qualified and technically strong finance professional. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage financial operations and provide strategic financial partnership to the KSA management team. The position is based in Riyadh and requires a commitment to delivering accurate financial reporting and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver month-end reporting requirements accurately and on time, collaborating with Commission Leads and Finance Leads to ensure the precision of Management Accounts, Financial Reports, and Forecasts.
- Manage and analyze key business reports including Business Partnering, Project Profitability, Project Revenue Trackers, Project Accounting, and WIP analysis.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, articulating and managing any variances in accordance with financial reporting standards.
- Support ad-hoc month-end reporting and provide commentary for variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of Revenue Trackers and Income Statements.
- Assist with the annual statutory audit and support the annual Budget submission.
- Process General Ledger journal transactions for both Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
- Manage client invoicing, often under conflicting time and workload pressures.
- Perform intercompany account reconciliations and take necessary actions.
- Ensure compliance with both external financial reporting standards and internal accounting policies.
- Support the preparation of monthly payroll, including the generation of payroll journals and relevant reconciliations.
- Respond to payroll queries as required.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience. This experience should include preparing Management Accounts, Forecasts, and Project Accounting. Experience working in an environment with conflicting pressures and heavy workloads is essential. A strong team player with the ability to work on their own initiative for unusual and ad-hoc requirements is necessary. Frequent interaction with senior management necessitates strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ideally, candidates will have KSA-based experience, preferably within the MNC consultancy or construction industry. A good knowledge of KSA VAT and Tax laws and practices will be a significant advantage.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) with strong accounting skills and post-qualified experience.
- A challenging, analytical, and methodical mindset with the ability to investigate and interrogate data, supported by strong Excel skills.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize workloads effectively.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
- A team development focus and the ability to function as a team player, supporting colleagues and managing simultaneous and conflicting requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective business partnering and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
