The Role of Senior Landscape Architect

AECOM is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join its team in Riyadh. This full-time position requires 5-10 years of experience and involves leading landscape design projects, managing client interactions, and ensuring the delivery of technical packages. The role focuses on applying public realm standards, developing innovative design solutions, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, and lead smaller, less complex landscape design projects independently.
• Structure project teams, define roles and responsibilities, and prepare deployment plans.
• Lead client meetings and oversee the structure and content of project deliverables.
• Interpret, quantify, and graphically represent public realm standards and regulatory guidelines relevant to projects.
• Demonstrate knowledge of public realm design principles and translate vision frameworks into objectives.
• Prepare clear descriptive writing for landscape design principles and guidelines.
• Participate in internal and external workshops, preparing summary outcome reports and presentation materials.
• Deliver designs and complete technical landscape packages independently with senior team review.
• Understand authorities' requirements and coordinate technical inputs from various disciplines.
• Possess full understanding of regional planting and irrigation requirements and standards.
• Manage project financial status reports and provide updates for studio/resourcing meetings.
• Review landscape cost plans and gain site experience on built projects to resolve issues with senior team support.
• Support bid preparation, including technical approach, methodologies, delivery structure, and commercial aspects.
• Organize internal libraries and update project sheets for ongoing projects.
• Develop innovative design ideas and solutions using digital tools and personal skills.
• Ensure quality procedures are applied to landscape design deliverables through self-checks and reviews.
• Enhance standards for landscape design graphics (diagrams, Photoshop, Lumion renders) and document them for team use.
• Orient, integrate, guide, and mentor new landscape recruits, providing access to relevant materials and projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in landscape architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead design projects.
• Proficiency in public realm design principles and relevant standards.
• Experience with technical landscape packages and authority requirements.
• Knowledge of planting and irrigation standards specific to the region.
• Familiarity with project financial management.
• Ability to develop and apply innovative design solutions.
• Experience in mentoring junior landscape architects.

Work Environment
