About the Senior Manager, Geotechnical Role at Qiddiya
Qiddiya is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager - Geotechnical to join its team in Riyadh, Riyadh Province. This full-time position requires over 10 years of experience and involves overseeing all geotechnical and ground investigation activities across the Qiddiya Development. The role is central to ensuring the long-term stability of the Qiddiya Tuwaiq cliff and managing geotechnical risks across the city-wide project.
Role Purpose and Strategic Impact
The Senior Manager - Geotechnical will lead the execution of the Cliff Stabilisation Roadmap, a critical initiative for the Qiddiya Development. This role is responsible for identifying, mitigating, and integrating geotechnical risks into all planning, design, and delivery activities at a city-wide level. It requires expertise in project management, geotechnical engineering, procurement, design management, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring alignment with Qiddiya’s broader development objectives across master planning, design, and delivery teams.
City-Wide Geotechnical and Ground Investigation Responsibilities
- Establish and lead a city-wide geotechnical and ground investigation strategy aligned with Qiddiya’s master development plan.
- Oversee all geotechnical investigations across the city, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and long-term value.
- Lead the integration of all geotechnical data into Qiddiya’s GIS and digital engineering systems for long-term asset management and traceability.
- Oversee procurement and management of city-wide geotechnical consultants and ground investigation contractors.
- Ensure compliance with international standards, local regulations, and best practices in ground engineering.
- Coordinate with district development teams to embed geotechnical inputs in early design decisions and construction methodologies.
- Implement a geotechnical risk register to inform prioritisation, scope development, and mitigation strategies across the project lifecycle.
- Support the development of geotechnical specifications, scopes of work, and contract documentation to ensure consistency and technical quality.
Leadership in Cliff Stabilization Initiatives
- Lead strategic planning and execution for the City-wide Cliff Stabilisation project, including developing a phased delivery strategy.
- Progress the project through Qiddiya’s Stage Gate governance framework, leading on all required Stage Gate deliverables.
- Collaborate with the Delivery Director on design team organisational structures and hiring strategies.
- Coordinate with internal teams (procurement, engineering, digital information, planning, cost planning, commercial & reporting, and delivery) to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure seamless integration of cliff stabilisation solutions with adjacent developments through coordination with district master developers.
- Develop and maintain a cost plan in collaboration with Qiddiya’s cost planning team and external cost consultants.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards across all phases for successful project delivery.
- Define and implement procurement strategies, including identifying and selecting consultants and contractors for cliff stabilisation works.
- Act as Scope Owner, contributing to all tender processes, including drafting RFPs, responding to PTCs, evaluating tenders, and managing governance and approvals.
- Implement risk management frameworks to identify potential risks and integrate mitigation strategies.
- Lead the management of technical and design consultants, overseeing deliverables for compliance with time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Oversee the review and approval process of technical and design deliverables, ensuring alignment with Qiddiya’s Cliff Stabilisation Roadmap, engineering best practices, and Qiddiya’s approval process.
- Ensure deliverables are integrated with GIS systems to maintain a comprehensive geotechnical database for Qiddiya’s long-term cliff stability management.
- Provide support to district developers and asset managers on cliff-related risks.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering and project management.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, geotechnical engineering, procurement, and design management.
- Proven ability in stakeholder coordination across complex development projects.
- Experience in leading ground investigation activities and managing geotechnical risks at a large-scale, city-wide level.
- Familiarity with international standards, local regulations, and best practices in ground engineering.
