This Senior Power System Planning Expert position is integral to EGI's mission, supporting high-impact projects in power system planning, smart grid design, digitalization, asset management, HVDC, FACTS, and renewable integration. The role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires mobility for international assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting analysis and defining planning principles for power systems.
  • Defining and validating power system models.
  • Enhancing methodologies for planning power systems with significant integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), considering demand evolution and optimizing transmission investments.
  • Mastering the links with technico-economic models to define critical operating points.
  • Performing steady-state analysis, including load flow, short circuit calculations, and hosting capacity assessments.
  • Conducting dynamic stability analysis, covering frequency, transient, and voltage stability.
  • Supporting the analysis and evaluation of grid reliability and security, including capacity calculation, balancing, and operational planning.
  • Writing comprehensive reports to present the results of analyses.
  • Interacting with clients, effectively communicating proposed solutions and development plans, and gaining their confidence.
  • Supervising power system teams and overseeing their contributions to projects.
  • Managing consultancy services projects.
  • Supporting business development teams in identifying and pursuing opportunities by establishing trusted client relationships and developing proposals.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in Power System Planning, encompassing master planning, pre-feasibility studies for new transmission investments, RES system integration, BESS optimization, and sizing state-of-the-art technological solutions.
  • Proven expertise in translating complex data into key strategic insights and actionable plans.
  • Proficiency in power system simulation tools such as PowerFactory and PSSE.
  • Knowledge of the basics of Power System economics.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Good oral presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with international clients.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is considered a strong asset.
