T&C Protection Engineer

About the Role

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a T&C Protection Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves ensuring the correct functionality and expected results of facilities, equipment, and plants through comprehensive testing and commissioning activities. The engineer will be responsible for bringing products and systems to optimal operational status, meeting client needs, and contributing to the successful completion of projects, specifically a 380kV Substation Project.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Main Advanced Relays, backup relays, and Auxiliary relays, executing tasks individually for BSP projects.
• Operate various relay software applications.
• Operate secondary and primary current injection kits from different manufacturers.
• Verify protection schemes in the field based on thorough knowledge.
• Propose improvements and provide advice on operational procedures.
• Schedule and coordinate work to meet tight deadlines.
• Identify problems and shortcomings within existing systems.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities with internal and external stakeholders, offering guidance on procedures and documentation.
• Produce or assist in the production of all testing and commissioning documentation.
• Undertake testing and commissioning activities within specified time and cost parameters.
• Monitor progress, record all test results, witness final testing and acceptance of equipment, and compile documentation for the site test dossier.
• Ensure the safe testing and commissioning of completed installations to achieve required plant performance in line with project schedules.

Project Focus

This role will primarily involve work on a 380kV Substation Project, requiring specialized knowledge and application of testing and commissioning protocols relevant to high-voltage infrastructure.

Required Experience and Skills

• 5-10 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and coordination abilities.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with clients and consultants.
• Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, particularly during critical energization activities.
• High commitment to safety and quality standards.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires active participation in site-based testing and commissioning activities, often under tight deadlines and critical operational conditions.
