About the HIS Application Support Specialist Role

Astek is seeking an experienced HIS Application Support Specialist to join our team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position focuses on managing the end-to-end support, operations, and continuous improvement of the Hospital Information System (HIS), with a specific emphasis on InterSystems TrakCare. The role is crucial for ensuring system stability, optimal performance, and alignment with clinical and business requirements, while also providing robust incident support, reliable integrations, and driving ongoing service enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the administration, support, and optimization of InterSystems TrakCare, including core modules such as ADT, Billing, Pharmacy, and Orders, ensuring high availability, performance, and user satisfaction.
• Coordinate with InterSystems and other vendors to resolve technical issues, manage system enhancements, and ensure effective service delivery.
• Oversee daily HIS operations and manage incidents, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Manage user roles, system configurations, and workflow updates to support ongoing operational needs.
• Manage integrations between TrakCare and external systems including LIS, RIS, PACS, ERP, and NPHIES.
• Monitor and support interfaces using HL7, FHIR, and APIs, ensuring secure and accurate data exchange across systems.
• Support the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for TrakCare enhancements and releases, including upgrades, patches, and improvements.
• Ensure proper testing, documentation, and change management processes are followed for all system modifications.
• Continuously optimize TrakCare usage across clinical and administrative functions by improving workflows, automation, and system efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare standards, NPHIES, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in HIS / EMR systems.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of InterSystems TrakCare is mandatory.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory.

Technical Knowledge Requirements

• Understanding of HL7 / FHIR integration standards.
• Familiarity with NPHIES workflows.
• Knowledge of ZATCA RCM processes.
• Experience with HIS integrations (Lab, Pharmacy, Radiology).
• Proficiency in SQL and database fundamentals.
• Understanding of Windows OS and networking fundamentals.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position based in the Makkah region, with specific work locations in Jeddah and Makkah.
