About the Role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer Mechanical to join its dynamic team in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves supporting the Resident Engineer in overseeing and managing complex infrastructure projects within large-scale urban master plans and high-rise developments. The successful candidate will ensure all project activities are executed with precision, innovation, and full compliance with contract requirements, approved specifications, and local Saudi standards.

Role Purpose and Scope

This pivotal position requires an experienced and detail-oriented engineer with a proven track record in integrated urban developments. The Senior Engineer will apply analytical expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to excellence to drive project success, maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and schedule performance across multiphase urban development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive quality assurance and quality control procedures and inspection protocols applicable to assigned civil works within large-scale urban master plan projects, including preparation of inspection and test plans and method statements tailored to complex infrastructure systems and high-rise vertical coordination.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections and quality verifications for all construction activities across urban development phases, ensuring strict adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and established quality standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate inspector performance, providing constructive feedback and support to ensure effective supervision and accurate documentation of all site activities.
  • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports for assigned works to the Resident Engineer and Project Manager, maintaining transparent communication and organized record-keeping.
  • Review, verify, and coordinate the preparation of as-built documentation and updated records to ensure accuracy and completeness for project closeout across all urban development phases.
  • Verify and coordinate all assigned services, including civil, structural, and MEP interfaces, fostering collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams on complex urban projects.
  • Liaise with the Head Office design team regarding material submittals, design queries, and technical clarifications, demonstrating innovative problem-solving approaches for large-scale urban master plan projects.
  • Oversee construction activities for assigned civil structures and systems within high-rise and urban development contexts, ensuring compliance with approved methodologies, sequencing, and vertical coordination requirements.
  • Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment standards and safe work procedures across all site operations, promoting a culture of safety and resilience on large-scale projects.
  • Support the Resident Engineer in identifying and resolving technical site issues specific to urban master plans and high-rise construction, providing strategic input for potential design modifications and value engineering opportunities.
  • Review and provide constructive comments on contractors' technical submittals, shop drawings, and method statements, ensuring alignment with project requirements and specifications for complex urban developments.
  • Ensure all works comply with Saudi local authority requirements and applicable industry standards for construction and infrastructure development within integrated urban environments.
  • Assist in evaluating contractors' progress claims, variation proposals, and change requests with analytical rigor and transparency, considering impacts on project schedules and phasing across urban master plan initiatives.
  • Maintain close coordination with the supervision team and stakeholders, demonstrating commitment to achieving quality, safety, and progress objectives consistently across all project phases of large-scale urban developments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in large-scale urban master plan projects and high-rise development.
  • Proven track record in overseeing and managing complex civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, quality control procedures, and inspection protocols.
  • Familiarity with contract requirements, approved specifications, and local Saudi standards.
