The Opportunity: Co-Founder & CTO, A27

Sanabil Studio is seeking a Co-Founder & CTO for A27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This contract role requires over 10 years of experience. The Co-Founder & CTO will be responsible for A27's technology and engineering, from early product development to establishing a scalable and secure platform. This involves building the necessary systems and leading the team to enhance the speed, accuracy, and efficiency of the asset lifecycle in private capital markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and manage the architecture and engineering roadmap from initial product stages through to scale, ensuring system security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Lead the development of AI-enabled products that convert complex, unstructured financial data into structured, actionable intelligence.
• Establish and operate a modern data platform for the ingestion, processing, structuring, serving, and monitoring of financial data.
• Implement a responsible AI framework, addressing accuracy, model monitoring, explainability, and human-in-the-loop review for critical processes.
• Develop integration layers for financial institutions, market participants, and third-party data providers.
• Set technical standards for code quality, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and documentation.
• Build robust security, privacy, and data governance foundations to meet enterprise requirements and future regulatory and licensing needs.
• Make pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions for infrastructure, data providers, and core components.
• Prepare for real-world asset tokenization by assessing blockchain, custody, and smart-contract architectures required for a compliant tokenization layer as the product evolves.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering and data team in Riyadh.
• Collaborate with the CEO, customers, and compliance teams to translate financial workflows into product features.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in shipping AI/ML or data-intensive products into production environments.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals combined with practical experience in AI, data platforms, or information processing.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, capital markets, or other regulated, correctness-critical domains, with an understanding of the importance of accuracy and auditability.
• Proven ability to transform complex, unstructured data into structured, reliable tools with measurable business impact.
• Track record of hiring, mentoring, and leading engineering teams in dynamic and ambiguous settings.
• Commitment to ownership of outcomes and maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and scalable architecture.
• Clear communication skills for engaging with engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Based in Riyadh or willing to relocate, as this is an on-site leadership position.

Work Environment and Support

This role involves building an early product from the ground up, defining its architecture, and establishing the engineering team. AI is a core component of A27's operations, and the CTO will lead these efforts. The position offers direct collaboration with the CEO and the Sanabil Studio founding team in Riyadh, ensuring rapid feedback and direct influence on company direction. The role includes a co-founder equity stake, pre-seed capital via SAFE at spin-out, and comprehensive legal, finance, HR, and administrative support. Access to the Sanabil Studio network of portfolio companies, investors, operators, and industry experts is provided, along with institutional governance and Investment Committee oversight to prepare for future funding rounds.
