The Role of Commercial Director
We are seeking a Commercial Director - Major Programmes to join our expanding infrastructure team in Riyadh, KSA. This full-time leadership position involves providing strategic direction on major programmes, with a primary focus on post-contract delivery and driving commercial success, all while upholding Turner & Townsend's core values.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal point of contact for cost management matters and lead the Turner & Townsend team.
- Lead and motivate team members, providing necessary direction to inspire high performance and contribution.
- Undertake key account roles, ensuring project execution and maintaining client relationships as required.
- Deliver assurance services to projects, including peer review, gateway review, maturity assessments, readiness reviews, and performance audits.
- Periodically assume major program delivery roles, leading the Turner & Townsend commission team to achieve successful "steady state" delivery and manage transitions.
- Provide oversight and assurance for Turner & Townsend's major programs within the region.
- Identify organizational needs, develop recruitment plans, and define role specifications.
- Play a significant role in infrastructure business development activities for the cost center.
- Support the development and implementation of marketing and business development strategies.
- Offer solutions to clients and collaborate with the business development team on sales proposals, qualification packages, and presentations.
- Coordinate with project team leaders on project negotiations and execution.
- Collaborate effectively with other business divisions and teams.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery by utilizing Turner & Townsend systems, policies, and procedures, managing time, planning, and organizing for excellence.
- Demonstrate understanding of commercial business drivers and ensure work aligns with these, contributing to business opportunity development.
- Show a commitment to challenge, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Cost Management discipline.
- Take responsibility for Business Unit (BU) performance and project Profit & Loss (P/L).
- Identify and understand areas for opportunity and development.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an agile and emotionally intelligent leader with a proven track record in the technical delivery of major programmes. Experience in international and cross-sector environments, particularly in multi-cultural settings, is advantageous. This role requires a cost management generalist, proficient in estimating, cost control, scheduling, risk management, change management, performance measurement, and reporting, with demonstrated expertise in major delivery programmes. Candidates should operate at a senior level and be comfortable presenting to large groups and senior-level client bases.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- MRICS qualified (FRICS is considered a plus).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Experience in developing and mentoring teams.
