Overview of the Role

People Group Arabia is seeking a Commercial Director to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time senior leadership position involves taking a leading role in a significant and transformative development program. The Commercial Director will influence the commercial strategy and delivery of a major, high-profile development, contributing to a vision that aims to redefine the future of entertainment, sport, culture, and lifestyle.

Role Context and Scope

This role requires a commercially astute professional who can operate effectively in complex, fast-paced environments. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with strong commercial governance, exceptional stakeholder management, and a hands-on approach to delivery. Working within a large-scale, multi-disciplinary program, the Commercial Director will shape commercial outcomes, drive value, manage risk, and build the commercial capability necessary to deliver a world-class development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic commercial leadership across a complex portfolio of major projects and construction packages.
• Ensure robust commercial management throughout the project lifecycle, from procurement and contract award through to delivery, final account, and close-out.
• Collaborate with senior project leadership, clients, consultants, contractors, and supply chain partners to align commercial strategies with program objectives, financial targets, and delivery priorities.
• Develop and implement the overall commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with program objectives, project budgets, and long-term business goals.
• Manage commercial performance, cost control, forecasting, cash flow, profitability, and financial reporting across a portfolio of major construction packages.
• Oversee the administration and management of complex construction contracts, ensuring contractual compliance, effective change control, and protection of commercial interests.
• Lead commercial input into procurement planning, tender evaluations, contract negotiations, and appointment strategies to ensure value for money and effective risk allocation.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks while proactively pursuing opportunities to improve value, optimize cost, and enhance project outcomes.
• Build relationships with senior client representatives, project directors, consultants, contractors, and key supply chain partners, providing clear commercial advice and influencing strategic decisions.
• Lead the management of contractual claims, variations, and extensions.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant commercial leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and construction packages.
• Proven ability to develop and implement commercial strategies.
• Experience in contract management, procurement strategy, and risk management.
