About the Role

Taj Dhabi is seeking a Project Director to provide overall leadership, strategic planning, and execution for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. This full-time role is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and focuses on ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining profitability, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.

Role Overview

The Project Director oversees all project functions, including engineering, construction, planning, procurement, commercial, contracts, finance, QA/QC, HSE, and project controls. The primary objective is to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, approved schedules, budgets, quality standards, and company objectives. This position involves providing executive leadership to multidisciplinary teams, managing key stakeholder relationships, driving commercial performance, and ensuring effective risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of project execution from project award through mobilization, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to various project teams, including Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Commercial, Contracts, QA/QC, HSE, Finance, and Project Controls.
  • Develop and implement project execution strategies, business plans, resource allocation plans, and operational objectives aligned with company goals and contractual commitments.
  • Manage overall project budgets, cost control, cash flow, forecasting, profitability, and financial performance to ensure commercial success.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of project financial reports, cost reports, revenue forecasts, progress reports, and executive management updates.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for project teams and drive continuous performance improvement across all project functions.
  • Monitor project performance against approved schedules, budgets, contractual milestones, quality objectives, and HSE requirements, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure full compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, client requirements, Saudi regulations, international standards, and project governance requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commercial, Planning, Contracts, QA/QC, HSE, Logistics, and Project Controls, to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide leadership in contract administration, claims management, variation management, Extension of Time (EOT) submissions, dispute resolution, and commercial negotiations.
  • Develop procurement and subcontracting strategies while overseeing supplier and subcontractor performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Clients, Consultants, Government Authorities, Developers, Subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring effective risk management strategies and timely resolution of critical project issues.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards across all project activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project leadership roles within large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage all phases of complex project execution.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and risk mitigation in a project environment.
  • Strong understanding of contractual requirements, project controls, and quality/HSE standards.

Work Environment

This role requires presence at project sites and corporate offices as needed. It involves close collaboration with Executive Management, Clients, Consultants, Government Authorities, and various internal teams including Project Managers, Engineering, Commercial, Procurement, Planning, QA/QC, HSE, Finance, and Construction. The environment is fast-paced, supporting large-scale and high-profile construction projects across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, demanding strategic leadership, executive decision-making, and continuous coordination.
