About the Role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, on-site position involves a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance for stadium operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive HSE strategies to protect staff, visitors, and the environment during daily operations and major events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies and procedures for the stadium.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and recommend preventive measures to enhance safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and deliver effective safety training programs for all staff and contractors.
  • Manage emergency response planning and coordinate with local authorities and emergency services.
  • Monitor and ensure strict compliance with local Saudi Arabian and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Oversee environmental management initiatives, including waste management and sustainability programs.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate HSE documentation, reports, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with event organizers and stadium management to ensure high safety standards during events.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging HSE trends relevant to stadium management.
  • Implement and oversee robust crowd management strategies for large-scale events to ensure public safety.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are required.
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in an HSE role, with a strong preference for experience in large-scale facilities or stadiums.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and standards applicable to stadium operations, including specific local Saudi Arabian regulations.
  • Proven experience in conducting thorough risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and developing comprehensive emergency response plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective training and collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in using HSE software and data management tools.
  • Familiarity with stadium operations, crowd management principles, and sports event safety protocols.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, particularly during events.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the safety aspects of large-scale events and crowd control.
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Arabic is considered a significant advantage.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
