About the Role

Tamara, a leading fintech platform in Saudi Arabia and the GCC region, is seeking a Senior Manager - Credit to join its headquarters in Riyadh. As Saudi Arabia's first fintech unicorn, backed by entities including the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Tamara is dedicated to empowering individuals through a customer-centric financial super-app. This role is instrumental in safeguarding the company's financial integrity by managing credit risk and preventing fraudulent activities.

Role Overview

The Senior Manager - Credit Risk will develop and implement robust risk management strategies, conduct in-depth financial analysis, and foster cross-departmental collaboration to ensure a secure and dependable financial ecosystem. This strategic position requires a proactive approach to risk mitigation and a commitment to maintaining financial stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive credit risk policies, strategies, and operational procedures.
  • Assess applicant creditworthiness using credit scoring models, credit reports, and financial analysis.
  • Monitor and manage credit exposure, track delinquency rates, and oversee portfolio performance.
  • Optimize risk and pricing strategies to maximize profitability while minimizing credit losses.
  • Develop and implement fraud prevention strategies and control mechanisms.
  • Monitor transactions and customer behavior to identify potential fraudulent activity.
  • Investigate suspicious transactions and liaise with law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Stay informed about emerging fraud trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify, assess, and mitigate credit and fraud risks.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and dashboards to senior management on risk trends and performance metrics.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making in risk management operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to financial regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to address regulatory requirements for credit and fraud risk management.
  • Work with product, engineering, and customer service teams to integrate risk management into product design and customer interactions.
  • Provide expert guidance on the risk implications of new product development initiatives.
  • Balance effective risk mitigation with a seamless customer experience.
  • Communicate risk policies and actions to customers clearly and transparently.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or a closely related field is required.
  • A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (*, FRM, CFE) are considered a significant advantage.
  • A minimum of 8 years of proven experience in credit risk management and fraud prevention, with a preference for fintech industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of credit scoring models, underwriting processes, and fraud detection methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and risk modeling.
  • Solid knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with risk management software and relevant tools.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A highly analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.

This full-time position is based at Tamara's headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
