About the Role

Parsons Corporation is seeking a Saudi National Sustainability Specialist to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role focuses on supporting the development and implementation of sustainability strategies for projects. Role Overview

The Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for reviewing project designs, construction plans, and operational processes to identify and implement sustainability improvements. This involves integrating sustainability considerations into project decision-making and lifecycle planning, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting sustainable practices across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of project sustainability strategies and targets.
  • Review project designs, construction plans, and operational processes to identify sustainability improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in integrating sustainability considerations into project decision-making and lifecycle planning.
  • Monitor compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments, audits, and site inspections.
  • Support the preparation of reports, permits, and submissions for regulatory approvals.
  • Promote sustainable construction practices, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.
  • Support the integration of renewable energy, low-carbon materials, and resource-efficient technologies.
  • Coordinate with design and construction teams to ensure alignment with sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities on sustainability initiatives.
  • Prepare sustainability reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
  • Track and report sustainability KPIs, including carbon footprint, waste diversion, and energy/water savings.
  • Support sustainability awareness programs, workshops, and training sessions for project staff and contractors.
  • Promote the adoption of sustainable practices and culture across project teams.
  • Identify and recommend innovative sustainability solutions, materials, or technologies.
  • Support the implementation of sustainability-related initiatives in line with international best practices such as LEED, BREEAM, ISO 14001, or equivalent.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging sustainability regulations to ensure project compliance and leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability management, environmental compliance, or sustainable infrastructure projects.
  • Experience on large-scale infrastructure, airport, or construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with international sustainability standards including LEED, BREEAM, ISO 14001, and GRESB, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, environmental regulations, and resource efficiency practices.
  • Proven experience conducting environmental assessments, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools, reporting software, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information

A Master’s Degree or relevant professional certification is considered an advantage. Knowledge of airport operations and aviation sustainability requirements is desired. Experience implementing carbon reduction, waste management, or renewable energy initiatives is also desired, as is the ability to influence project teams and foster a culture of sustainability.
