About the Role

Hitachi Energy is seeking a motivated GIS I&C Engineer to join their team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. This role is essential for the successful installation, repair, and fault elimination of switching systems within high-voltage (HV) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) projects globally. The GIS I&C Engineer will represent Hitachi Energy and its Power Grids High Voltage (PGHV) division, demonstrating technical expertise and professionalism. A key focus will be on adhering to project deadlines while maintaining a favorable cost-performance ratio and upholding the company's Quality Assurance (QA) philosophy under challenging construction site conditions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the competent execution of all assigned installation and commissioning tasks, ensuring they are carried out in perfect technical order, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently carry out installation and maintenance work on GIS systems.
• Ensure strict compliance with all installation requirements and instructions, including observing necessary accident prevention measures and adhering to guidelines for work on live system components.
• Maintain red-mark drawings and documents, accurately reflecting any changes or modifications necessitated during the installation process.
• Advise sub-supplier installation superintendents on the planning and coordination of the workforce to meet project schedules.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish the status of completed and non-completed work.
• Inspect arriving materials for completeness and potential damage, coordinating material handling with sub-suppliers' Material Control departments according to their procedures.
• Issue non-conformance reports for damaged or missing equipment within the scope of PG supply, in cooperation with the Project Manager.
• Supervise final installation and commissioning tests, as well as the completion of PG installation documentation.
• Oversee and coordinate loop check activities and participate in site meetings as requested by the Project Manager.
• Ensure the competent execution of all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
• Undertake any additional tasks assigned by management that are necessary to fulfill the job requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
• A minimum of 2-5 years of experience specifically with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is preferred.
• Previous experience with SF6 Gas Handling is preferred.
• Knowledge of PGHV Transmission & Sub-transmission GIS Products is preferred.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.

Required Skills

• Capability to use MS Project professionally.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Dammam, within the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The role involves working in challenging construction site conditions globally.
