About the Role

Penta Consulting, a technology service provider delivering professional and managed solutions across EMEA, is seeking a Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer. This role is essential for architecting, deploying, and operating production workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will contribute to Penta Consulting's cloud strategy and the efficient, secure operation of its cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for:

• Architecting, deploying, and operating scalable, secure, multi-region GCP infrastructure for production workloads.
• Leading GCP cloud strategy, including resource hierarchy, VPC design, Shared VPC implementation, IAM governance, and service account lifecycle management.
• Performing hands-on deployment and management of workloads on GKE (Autopilot & Standard), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Compute Engine.
• Owning and operating the FinOps practice, implementing cloud cost governance, budget alerting, right-sizing recommendations, and Committed Use Discount (CUD) / Sustained Use Discount (SUD) purchasing strategies.
• Building and maintaining Terraform modules for all GCP infrastructure, covering networking, compute, data services, and security controls.
• Designing multi-region and multi-zone architectures to ensure disaster recovery, optimize latency, and comply with data residency regulations.
• Producing monthly cloud cost reports and trend analyses, and presenting optimization roadmaps to engineering leadership and finance.
• Implementing and operating GCP security controls, including VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor WAF, Security Command Center, Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK), and Binary Authorization.
• Defining and enforcing resource labeling and tagging standards for accurate cost attribution, chargeback, and showback reporting.
• Mentoring other engineers on GCP best practices and contributing to cloud governance documentation and internal platform tooling development.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess:

• Extensive hands-on experience architecting, deploying, and operating production workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and operating cloud cost governance frameworks.
• Proven ability to build billing dashboards and drive measurable cloud cost reductions.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code principles and tools, specifically Terraform.
• Proficiency in deploying and managing GKE (Autopilot & Standard), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Compute Engine workloads.
• Expertise in implementing and operating GCP security controls such as VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor WAF, Security Command Center, CMEK, and Binary Authorization.
• Experience in defining and enforcing resource labeling/tagging standards.
• A strong understanding of cloud governance principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• A GCP certification is required, though it does not substitute for hands-on experience.
