About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is seeking a Consultant in General & Upper GI Surgery to join their team in Riyadh. This full-time position involves providing comprehensive medical care and treatment within the specialized field of General & Upper GI Surgery, adhering strictly to hospital policies and medical staff bylaws.

Core Responsibilities

The Consultant will be responsible for the diagnosis and management of medical conditions within General & Upper GI Surgery. This includes delivering high-quality patient care, providing timely consultations across various hospital settings, and ensuring the accurate and complete documentation of medical reports. The role also encompasses participating in on-call duties to provide continuous patient support and managing patient discharge processes efficiently.

Clinical and Educational Duties

This position requires active participation in clinical responsibilities as assigned. A significant aspect of the role involves the education and supervision of interns, residents, and fellows, including bedside training and participation in departmental educational activities. The Consultant is also expected to contribute to research projects, aiming to advance medical knowledge and improve postgraduate education, aligning with the Hospital’s research objectives.

Professional Development and Administration

Maintaining and enhancing professional knowledge through continuing education is essential. The Consultant will also undertake administrative duties as delegated by the Head of Section or Chairman, and participate in mandatory departmental activities and hospital committees. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of practices that optimize resource utilization within the department and across the hospital.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must have graduated from an accredited medical school and completed the required specialty and/or subspecialty training. Eligibility requires an Arab or American Board certificate, or equivalent membership and/or fellowship status from the United States and/or Canada. A minimum of seven (7) years of postgraduate training and experience in the specialty or subspecialty is mandatory, with the total training and experience in the subspecialty needing to equal or exceed seven (7) years.

Work Environment and Compliance

The role is based in Riyadh and operates on a full-time basis. All activities must be conducted in strict adherence to current hospital and medical bylaws, relevant rules, regulations, and policies, with an obligation to stay updated on any changes. The Consultant is expected to follow all hospital-related policies and procedures and participate in the education, training, and development of self and others as applicable.
