About the Field Application Engineer Role

HQTS Group is seeking a full-time Field Application Engineer (FAE) to be based on-site in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role supports an electronic manufacturing assembly plant that produces servers, desktops, laptops, and mobile terminals. The FAE will provide essential on-site technical quality support to address component defects, manage quality risks, and ensure continuous production flow. This position acts as the sole on-site quality representative for component suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

The Field Application Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

• Defect Analysis and Resolution: Conduct on-site identification and preliminary root cause analysis for incoming structural component defects on assembly lines. Identify potential manufacturing issues in upstream component factories that may lead to field failures.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise with HQTS service teams and overseas component suppliers to determine the true root cause of quality issues. Independently communicate and negotiate quality concerns with the assembly plant's engineering and quality departments to confirm defect origins.
• Quality Control Planning: Negotiate and finalize batch sorting and rework plans with the local assembly factory in cases of mass quality non-conformities.
• Supervision of Remediation: Oversee the progress and quality of on-site sorting, inspection, and rework teams. Provide technical direction to temporary supervisors as needed.
• Reporting and Communication: Prepare and submit regular reports on quality status, work progress, and rectification outcomes to both the assembly plant and component suppliers.
• Material Tracking and CAPA: Track defective materials, file quality abnormality reports, and ensure suppliers implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence of structural defects.
• Temporary Workforce Management: Coordinate the deployment of 5–9 temporary operators and a supervisor within 24–48 hours for urgent sorting/rework needs.
• Quality Documentation: Maintain complete inspection records, non-conformance tracking forms, KPI statistics, and quality dashboards for reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in a mechanical structure-related major.
• A minimum of 3 years of formal working experience in manufacturing factories. Candidates with extensive structural component manufacturing experience may have this requirement adjusted.
• Proficiency in mainstream structural manufacturing processes, including injection molding, die-casting, stamping, assembly tolerance control, screw torque testing, and structural interference analysis.
• Strong quality awareness and process sensitivity.
• Mastery of root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5Why, and Fishbone Diagrams.
• Excellent on-site communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to conduct independent technical discussions with customer engineering and quality departments.
• Visa Requirement: Saudi local candidates are strongly preferred. Foreign applicants must be capable of independently managing all Saudi work visa procedures, including sponsorship application, Iqama issuance, visa renewal, and compliance, without support from HQTS.
• This role is exclusively responsible for mechanical and structural quality issues of components; electronic circuits, software, and firmware failures are outside its scope.
• The successful candidate must be able to commence on-site duties before July 1, 2025.

Compensation and Work Details

This is a full-time position located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The salary range for this role is $3,000 - $4,000.
