About the Staff Nurse I Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre is seeking a Staff Nurse I to provide comprehensive nursing care in Jeddah. This full-time position requires a dedicated professional committed to upholding established standards of nursing practice and performance. The role involves demonstrating leadership competencies, particularly when assigned charge nurse duties or acting as a shift resource or team leader.

Core Responsibilities and Patient Care

The Staff Nurse I is responsible for delivering total patient care as assigned, adhering to core standards, hospital policies, and evidence-based practices. This includes accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, as well as managing discharge planning. A key aspect of the role involves contributing to the reduction of patient length of stay and waiting times in collaboration with Case Management.

Documentation and Communication

Accurate, appropriate, and timely documentation of all relevant patient information is a critical responsibility. The Staff Nurse I must also report equipment failures, safety and security concerns, and reductions in supply inventory to the Head Nurse or their designee. Effective communication and collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team are essential for achieving continuous improvement in patient care quality.

Safety, Quality, and Resource Management

Promoting a safe environment for patients and staff is paramount. This involves embracing a safety culture, identifying areas of risk, and complying with policies for personal and patient safety, including the prevention of healthcare-associated infections. The role also contributes to cost efficiency savings by maintaining awareness of resource utilization and exercising care in the ordering and use of staff, equipment, and materials. Contributions to achieving clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction are expected.

Professional Development and Mentorship

The Staff Nurse I participates in the orientation of new staff and nursing students, aiming to develop their competence and performance. This includes assisting in maintaining a suitable learning environment and acting as a preceptor or mentor. The role also involves contributing to special projects and assignments aligned with nursing strategic priorities and professional practice models, as well as promoting and sharing knowledge through mentorship based on relevant research and evidence-based practice.

Qualifications and Experience

This position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience. The Staff Nurse I must follow all hospital-related policies and procedures and participate in self and others' education, training, and development as applicable. Demonstrating transcultural principles in nursing practice is also a requirement of the role.
