About the Role

SGS, a global leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification, is seeking a Wet Chem Technician to join its laboratory team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves performing accurate and timely chemical analyses to support laboratory operations and ensure customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Senior Chemist/Lab Supervisor, the technician will be responsible for executing assigned analytical functions according to established test methods and work instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all analytical functions in a professional manner, adhering to procedures to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
• Conduct all analyses strictly according to documented methods and work procedures.
• Maintain an organized and orderly work environment to optimize laboratory performance.
• Check and maintain all laboratory equipment according to specified procedures.
• Be responsible for instruments within the Wet Chem Section, including AAS, ICP, UV, LECO, and XRF.
• Ensure the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
• Adhere to correct hygiene procedures and maintain a high level of housekeeping.
• Report all incidents and accidents to the supervisor or management promptly.
• Ensure implementation and adherence to SMS Q&HSE procedures.
• Perform tasks with diligence, ensuring safety throughout.
• Actively participate in shift activities to meet customer processing requirements.
• Report necessary maintenance work to ensure normal operations.
• Maintain a clean work area and assist with scheduled cleaning and maintenance.
• Ensure all analytical methods are followed according to specified instructions.
• Report any application issues related to instruments or instrument management.
• Assist in the proper maintenance of records and control systems for all documents.
• Note, repair, or report all non-conformities as required.
• Update equipment/material maintenance records.
• Ensure all solutions and standards are properly labeled.
• Check dispensers, scales, and hot plates every shift.
• Keep management informed of any problems within the laboratory.
• Notify management when stock items are running low.
• Participate in training sessions as needed.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients and relevant government authorities and the community.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least one year of experience in a similar position is necessary.

Required Skills

• Strong technical knowledge relevant to wet chemical analysis.
• Good communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of wet chemical analysis principles and practices.
• Ability to operate all equipment and instruments within the section, including AAS, ICP, UV, and XRF.

Work Environment and Additional Information

This is a full-time position based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires 0-1 years of experience. Flexible working hours may be required with advance arrangements. The role may also involve attending emergency service calls. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
