About the Role

SJ Group is seeking a Senior Terminal Planner to join the Programme Management Consultancy (PMC) team for a significant aviation project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role is integral to guiding the planning, analysis, and design coordination of terminal facilities, focusing on enhancing passenger experience, optimizing operational efficiency, and ensuring adherence to international aviation standards. The Senior Terminal Planner will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated and forward-thinking terminal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all terminal planning activities, including spatial layout design, functional area development, and passenger flow optimization.
• Conduct capacity assessments, demand forecasting, and detailed terminal operational analyses to inform strategic design and planning decisions.
• Develop terminal concepts and detailed planning reports aligned with client objectives and international best practices.
• Coordinate with architecture, engineering, MEP, ICT, and baggage handling system teams to ensure cohesive and integrated terminal design solutions.
• Review and validate all design deliverables against project requirements and operational needs.
• Support stakeholder engagement and present terminal planning findings and recommendations to project teams and clients.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Aviation Planning, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience specifically in airport terminal planning.
• Proven involvement in large-scale aviation or significant infrastructure projects.
• In-depth understanding of airport terminal operations, IATA Level of Service (LoS) principles, and terminal capacity planning methodologies.
• Previous experience within a Programme Management Consultancy (PMC) or similar consultancy environment is advantageous.

Required Skills

• Expertise in terminal planning, including spatial layout, functional area development, and passenger flow optimization.
• Proficiency in capacity assessments, demand forecasting, and terminal operational analyses.
• Skilled in developing terminal concepts and comprehensive planning reports.
• Strong capabilities in design coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and presenting complex findings.
• Thorough knowledge of airport terminal operations and IATA Level of Service (LoS) standards.
• Familiarity with terminal capacity planning methodologies.
• Experience with terminal simulation tools such as CAST, AnyLogic, or Simio is highly desirable.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICAO, IATA, and GACA standards and guidelines.
• Excellent analytical, spatial planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in planning and design software including AutoCAD, Revit, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
