Join our team at Waja as a Cost Engineer!
We are seeking a skilled professional to prepare cost estimates and analyze project budgets. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring that our projects are completed within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare initial and detailed cost estimates (BOQ – Bill of Quantities).
  • Review contracts and technical documents (plans, specifications) to determine project scope and accurately estimate costs.
  • Prepare and analyze project budgets and allocate costs to work items.
  • Monitor actual project expenses and compare them with estimated costs, analyzing variances.
  • Prepare periodic reports on cost status, financial risks, and potential variances.
  • Coordinate with project managers, procurement departments, and financial management to ensure expenditures align with the budget.
  • Participate in bidding evaluations and review contractor and supplier prices.
  • Develop a pricing database for materials, labor, and equipment as a reference for future estimates.
  • Contribute to implementing Earned Value Management (EVM) plans to monitor project performance.
  • Propose methods to reduce costs and improve efficiency without compromising quality.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • 35 years of experience in cost management or project management.
  • Familiarity with cost management standards and estimation preparation.
  • Good knowledge of project management software (Primavera P6 / MS Project).
  • Proficient in Office Programs (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is an additional advantage.
  • Strong financial analysis and technical reporting skills.
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills.
  • High accuracy in dealing with numbers.
  • Outstanding communication skills and teamwork capability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of local and international standards for cost estimation and project management.
