About The Role
At OMQ, the Senior Accountant plays a critical role in overseeing accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records across all departments. This position is responsible for supervising daily accounting activities, reviewing financial transactions, and supporting strategic financial planning, while ensuring full compliance with approved accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and review all journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Supervise daily accounting operations including expenses, revenues, invoicing, and collections.
  • Review client invoices, collections, and account balances, and resolve complex discrepancies in coordination with relevant teams.
  • Review and approve supplier invoices, ensuring alignment with contracts, purchase orders, and budget allocations.
  • Oversee and perform regular bank reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of variances.
  • Review periodic reconciliations of customer and supplier accounts and ensure proper follow-up on outstanding items.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including analysis of expenses, revenues, and balances.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring activities.
  • Lead and support the preparation and submission of tax declarations in compliance with regulations and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes, acting as a key point of contact for auditors.
  • Ensure proper organization, archiving, and control of accounting records in line with internal policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and reduce recurring errors.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members, ensuring accuracy and professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience in reviewing financial transactions and supervising accounting activities.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and ERP platforms (experience with Odoo is a plus).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Very good English proficiency; Arabic proficiency is a strong advantage.

  • Project Governance & Compliance:
    • Ensure project spending complies with Delegation of Authority (DOA) and internal financial controls.
    • Support financial controls over procurement, contract management, and subcontractor billing.
    • Coordinate with Internal Audit to address project-related financial risks.
    • Prepare documentation required by external auditors for project assets, revenue, and cost validation.
  • General Accounting (Project-Linked):
    • Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to project accounting.
    • Reconcile project accounts, intercompany charges, and project-related balance sheet accounts.
    • Prepare asset capitalization schedules (PPE, investment properties, development properties).
    • Assist in VAT, Zakat, and tax reporting related to project costs and revenues.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in project accounting.
  • Experience in real estate, construction, or project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, cost control, and IFRS.
