About the Role

The National Blood & Cancer Center (NBCC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is seeking a dedicated Oncology Consultant to join its team. This full-time position involves the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of patients with cancer, encompassing medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. The role requires a deep understanding of cancer, strong analytical abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including biopsies, blood work, and imaging, to confirm cancer diagnoses.
  • Educate patients and their caregivers on their cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and available treatment options.
  • Develop personalized and measurable treatment plans aligned with care standards and patient preferences.
  • Manage cancer-related pain and mitigate treatment symptoms and side effects to maintain patients' quality of life.
  • Continuously reassess patient progress, exploring alternative therapies or initiating palliative care as needed.
  • Participate in training and correspondence related to study protocols and clinical trials, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs and formulate treatment strategies.
  • Actively implement treatment plans and diligently monitor patient progress as a key member of the patient care team.
  • Utilize and champion approved standards of care, procedures, methods, techniques, safety precautions, and study protocols.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and evaluation of standard operating procedures and study-specific protocols.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or MD/PhD, or an equivalent degree, with specialized training in oncology or hematology/oncology.
  • Board certification in hematology/oncology, relevant to the country of hire, and a license in good standing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other medical professionals.
  • A strong motivation to work within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in medical oncology treatments, including chemotherapy.
  • Expertise in surgical oncology principles and practices.
  • Competence in radiation oncology procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in research and/or clinical protocols.
  • Ability to interpret clinical, genomic, and efficacy data.

Work Environment and Experience

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the National Blood & Cancer Center (NBCC). The role requires 5-10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically within an oncology center.
