Here are the main tasks of a safety and health engineer (or HSE engineer): 1. Planning and Policies: Preparing and updating safety plans, developing emergency and evacuation procedures, and ensuring compliance with local and international standards (such as OSHA or NEBOSH). 2. Risk Assessment: Conducting regular inspections to identify potential hazards in equipment or the workplace, and implementing engineering solutions to prevent them. 3. Training and Awareness: Training employees on how to use personal protective equipment (PPE), safely handle machinery, and administer first aid. 4. Design Review: Evaluating engineering plans for projects to ensure that safety systems (such as fire alarm and suppression systems) are integrated at the design stage. 5. Accident Investigation: Studying the causes of accidents or injuries at the workplace, and preparing technical reports to prevent recurrence in the future.
