About the Associate Production Specialist Role

Role Overview and Responsibilities
As an Associate Production Specialist, you will be involved in various stages of the production process, including operating equipment for preparation (mixing), filling, packaging, and tote washing. While you will be capable of performing most tasks within the production department, responsibilities such as material handling, bulk receiving, and shipping are excluded from this role.
- Review preparing (mixing), filling, and packaging instructions at the start of production runs to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Verify the availability of correct raw and packaging materials for production runs.
- Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and that all safety procedures are understood and followed, seeking assistance from the Supervisor when necessary.
- Set up production lines according to preparation (mixing), filling, and packaging instructions, making adjustments or requesting assistance from the Supervisor or Maintenance Technician as needed.
- Continuously operate preparation (mixing), filling, and packaging equipment, which may include fillers, sleeve labelers, pumps, filters, mixers, cappers, tape machines, bar coders, ink jet printers, hand wrenches, hand stamps, palletizers, and lid presses.
- Adjust equipment to control weight, closures, or other parameters as required by product specifications.
- Perform all operations on the production lines, including loading lines with empty containers, labeling, preparing (mixing), filling, capping, generating bar codes, taking samples, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Actively participate in Kaizen events, 5S initiatives, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities, Loss Analysis, and special projects.
- Continuously identify opportunities for system and process waste elimination.
- Accurately and timely complete and document activities that measure quality and productivity, such as taking weights and performing basic quality tests, entering results on paper or in a computer system.
- Follow and adhere to all safety, quality, and production-related Work Instructions, Memos, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Report and act upon safety observations, quality observations, and machine performance issues or defects.
- Complete packaging, preparing (mixing), and filling assignments, meeting or exceeding established standards.
- Assist with line changeovers, including the collection of wash water.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in a chemical plant or warehouse environment.
- Basic English language proficiency, including reading and writing.
- Ability to use basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and decimals.
- Valid Forklift Driving license.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical examination.

Required Skills and Aptitudes
- Experience with Kaizens, 5S, TPM, and Loss Analysis methodologies.
- Proficiency in Continuous Improvement systems and practices.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with Reaction chemistry is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to complete training and master skills required for the position, including Hazardous Material Safety and DOT training.
- Ability to understand and track safety, quality, and productivity data, including run rates, fill weights, and averages.
