About the Role

Hitachi Energy is seeking a motivated Field Service Engineer to join its team in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for executing installation, testing, and commissioning activities for Transformer and OLTC products at customer sites and Hitachi Energy projects. The role also involves working on third-party Transformers when applicable. This position contributes to the successful deployment and operation of critical electrical equipment, supporting project success and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in site activities, including customer site visits for the installation, testing, and commissioning of Hitachi transformers and other assigned equipment.
  • Coordinate with the tools management department to ensure proper care, arrangement, and utilization of transformer tools and Hitachi Energy PGSV test equipment for site activities related to PGSV Products installation, testing, commissioning, protection, and control.
  • Complete transformer installation and compartment assembly, perform minor fabrications as required, troubleshoot and rectify defects in Hitachi Energy products at customer sites, and advise on necessary actions for repairs in Hitachi Energy factories or workshops.
  • Support the work activities of PGSV Service at customer sites or workplaces.
  • Learn and proficiently operate test equipment used for transformer product testing and maintenance at customer premises or Hitachi Energy workplaces.
  • Collaborate with Project Management teams on various projects, ensuring full compliance with project management requirements and adhering to discipline and customer site regulations.
  • Lead contractors or subcontractors during job execution, coordinating with customers and back-office support for necessary resources.
  • Obtain Provisional Acceptance Certificates (PAC) or signed timesheets from customers upon completion of assigned tasks for invoicing purposes.
  • Prepare and submit site reports, activity plans, and resource requirements to the Project Manager, line manager, or supervisor.
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations, maintain good behavior at the office and on-site, and report any safety or integrity incidents to the line manager, supervisor, or Project Manager.
  • Implement value in day-to-day activities and tasks.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly timesheets and expense reports in a timely manner according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare travel authorizations prior to commencing travel for site deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Possess 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience of 3-4 years specifically in transformer and OLTC products, electrical equipment, protection and control, monitoring of transformers, and measuring devices for transformers and OLTC.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic languages is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure fulfillment and compliance with all contractual requirements, in collaboration with Baker Hughes Project and Service Managers.
  • Lead and execute loop check and commissioning phases of projects, performing necessary functional tests to ensure system integrity.

  • Strong knowledge of MKVI and MKVIe control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment control philosophy, including Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, and Reciprocating Compressors, along with their auxiliaries.
  • Good knowledge of the English language.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Work authorization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
