About the Role
SABIC, a global leader in the diversified chemical industry, is seeking a Process Control Engineer to join their team in Al Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is crucial for supporting industrial distributed control system projects, leveraging product knowledge and implementation methodologies to create configurations, documents, and custom programming elements. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to SABIC's mission by enhancing process control performance, ensuring stable operations, and supporting project lifecycle activities. You will play a key role in optimizing unit operations, maintaining product and waste emission stability, and providing essential pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up support.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment by adhering to the Company's SHEM's procedures.
- Analyze process control performance to identify opportunities for improved stability.
- Report on process control performance to management.
- Train operations and maintenance teams on process control principles and practices.
- Support Project Management Teams (PMT) in enhancing process control performance and communicate necessary changes to existing control schemes.
- Drive value realization from process unit operations by encouraging operation closer to constraints.
- Maintain stable operations by stabilizing the performance of process control loops, product quality, and/or waste emissions.
- Provide support during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up phases for operations.
- Mentor and groom junior control engineers, monitor their progress, and validate their development on a continuous basis.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Process Control principles and applications.
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and packaged equipment control systems.
- Knowledge of field instrumentation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, procedures, and legislative processes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to apply technology effectively through teamwork.
- Strong personal rapport and motivation for coaching internal staff and collaborating with external groups and agencies involved in process safety.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint.
