Role Context and Contribution

As a member of a site cybersecurity task force, you will contribute instrumentation and controls expertise to the field verification of cyber assets against project specifications and site acceptance criteria. You will serve as a technical interface between Air Products project execution teams, commissioning teams, client operations, and system/package vendors. Support will be provided throughout the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and handover phases, ensuring all cybersecurity and control system requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide site engineering support for instrumentation and control systems, including PAS, BPCS, vendor-supplied control packages, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in the field verification of cyber assets, confirming compliance with project specifications, site acceptance criteria, and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Coordinate with Field Supervision Engineers (FSEs) from PAS/BPCS vendors, subcontractors, and other package suppliers to plan and execute cybersecurity site validation and testing, including the close-out of Cybersecurity Risk Assessment (CRA) recommendations.
  • Interface with Engineering, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and Client Operations teams on cybersecurity field activities.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), loop checks, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Review vendor documentation, test procedures, and evidence related to control systems and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Compile, review, and close out Proof of Compliance documentation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting instrumentation, control systems, networks, and interfaces during commissioning and startup.
  • Ensure cybersecurity controls are implemented without adversely impacting schedule-critical site activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, specifically in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical, Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in instrumentation and control systems within industrial project environments (*, energy, chemicals, oil & gas, industrial gases).

About the Role

Air Products is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer - Electrical to provide technical leadership and serve as the site electrical engineering consultant for the NEOM Green Hydrogen Plant (GHE) in Duba, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. This role is crucial for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery and operation of electrical systems across the project's construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning & start-up (CSU), and operational phases. The engineer will address complex technical challenges, ensure cross-functional alignment for plant energization, and enhance team capabilities for predictable, high-quality project execution.

Operating within a multi-disciplinary, multi-contractor EPC environment, the role involves interfacing with Project Management, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, CSU, and NGHC Operations teams, as well as vendors and OEMs. The scope covers the full electrical spectrum across various process units, including the Air Separation Unit (ASU), Alkaline Water Electrolysis (AWE)/Hydrogen Production, Ammonia plant, Hydrogen & Ammonia storage, utilities, Jetty Area, GHE Buildings Scope, and Centralized Diesel Generation plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently lead and supervise site electrical engineering activities to ensure safe, high-quality, and timely execution, resolving complex issues through structured problem definition, troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and solution implementation.
  • Drive site electrical engineering execution by responding to Technical Queries (TQs)/Requests for Information (RFIs), closing walkdown punch items, completing Electrical Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), managing Field Change Notices (FCNs) for temporary site modifications, and ensuring accurate Records of Line Movements (RLM)/as-built records.
  • Coordinate effectively with Project Management, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, CSU, and Operations teams to support safe and timely execution.
  • Liaise with mechanical, piping, civil/structural, process control, process systems, process safety, fire protection, HCIS security, and cybersecurity teams to ensure multidisciplinary integration and alignment.
  • Manage interfaces with EPC construction contractors, vendors, and OEMs to support troubleshooting from construction through start-up, ensuring quality execution and timely project delivery.
  • Demonstrate expertise in large rotating equipment and drive systems, including steam turbine generators (STG), standby generators, induction and synchronous motors, MV/LV Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)/Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and soft starters. This includes advanced knowledge of drive topologies (CSI/VSI such as LCI and CHB), protection schemes, and resolving complex starting and operational challenges, including witnessing Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Lead interface coordination and integration of the GHE plant with Power Generation (solar, wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems - BESS) and grid systems (Electrical Power Management Systems - EPMS, 380 kV substations/Overhead Transmission Lines - OHTL, 33 kV STATCOM), ensuring compliance with the Saudi Grid Code and driving grid impact, system stability, harmonics, and power quality studies with mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and review as-built markups (Red line) for key electrical deliverables, including MV/LV distribution systems, grounding, lighting, hazardous area classification, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematics, Relay logic diagrams, protection schemes, relay protection settings, system studies (Load Flow, Motor Starting, Short Circuit using ETAP or SKM), load lists, cable sizing, and AC/DC UPS & battery sizing.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with safety principles, Air Products standards, Local Saudi Standards (HCIS, SBC, Saudi National Grid Code), and international codes (IEC/IEEE/NFPA/IS).
  • Participate in 3D model reviews, design reviews, and constructability assessments.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and designers, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15–20 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience leading engineers and designers in project execution environments through design, construction, commissioning & start-up, and operation phases.
  • Strong expertise in MV/LV systems, grounding, protection coordination, and hazardous area design.
  • Knowledge of Local Saudi Standards (HCIS, SBC, Saudi National Grid Code) and international codes (IEC/IEEE/NFPA/IS).

The Engineering Manager - Utilities will be responsible for leading and managing all utility operations within the plant, ensuring the reliable, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of essential utilities such as steam, refrigeration, water, and compressed air to support continuous production. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure maximum uptime and reliability of utilities to support production targets.
  • Monitor and control energy consumption and utility costs effectively.
  • Lead engineering projects, encompassing upgrades, modifications, and new installations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) and food safety standards.
  • Manage operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for any operational issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing methodologies such as Lean, TPM, and Six Sigma.
  • Develop and train engineering staff to enhance team capability and expertise.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related discipline).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in utilities and/or maintenance within food manufacturing, poultry, FMCG, or processing plants.
  • Strong hands-on experience with industrial utility systems, including refrigeration, boilers, compressors, and water systems.
  • Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and overseeing plant operations.
  • Specific experience in poultry or meat processing plants is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Lean, TPM, or Six Sigma methodologies.
