Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of AI-enabled products for credit decisioning, fraud and risk monitoring, dynamic limit management, and intelligence for inventory and cashflow.
  • Translate complex, real-world data into sophisticated decision tools to enhance accuracy, reduce loss rates, and responsibly broaden access to finance.
  • Champion a responsible AI approach, including rigorous model monitoring, drift detection, ensuring explainability, and implementing human-in-the-loop workflows where necessary.
  • Own the end-to-end architecture and engineering roadmap, guiding the product from pilot through Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to full-scale deployment, ensuring all systems are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Build and operate a modern data and Machine Learning (ML) platform covering data ingestion, feature pipelines, model training, serving, experimentation, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Define AI work streams, establish clear milestones, and set measurable outcomes, including improvements in approval lift, reduction in losses, faster decision-making times, and impact on merchant growth.
  • Establish and enforce technical standards across code quality, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices, observability, reliability, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Make pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions for critical components such as infrastructure, data providers, scoring engines, Know Your Customer (KYC) tooling, and payment rails.
  • Hire, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering and data team based in Riyadh.
  • Build robust security and privacy foundations that can withstand audits and meet future licensing requirements.
  • Foster strong partnerships with the Risk, Operations, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Partnerships teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven experience in shipping AI/ML-powered products into production environments, beyond prototypes.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals combined with hands-on experience in machine learning and data platforms.
  • Experience within the fintech sector, specifically in lending, Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), payments, risk management, fraud detection, or underwriting, with a deep understanding of the critical importance of accuracy in these domains.
  • A demonstrated track record of transforming complex datasets into practical decision tools that deliver measurable business impact.
  • Experience in hiring, mentoring, and leading teams within fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
  • A strong sense of ownership for outcomes and a commitment to maintaining high standards for reliability, security, and scalable architecture.
