We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the transition from our current data architecture to a target-state architecture. This role is critical for reducing complexity, improving data governance, ensuring scalability, and optimizing costs for the future platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the existing data architecture across all relevant layers, including source systems, Operational Data Store (ODS), Data Warehouse (DWH), staging areas, ETL processes, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality (DQ), Business Intelligence (BI), metadata management, and governance frameworks.
  • Identify and document current-state issues such as data duplication, accumulated technical debt, high dependency on specific licensing, inefficiencies in data movement, and gaps in data governance.
  • Define the target data architecture, encompassing lakehouse capabilities, DWH, semantic layers, comprehensive governance, MDM, metadata management, BI solutions, and AI-ready data services.
  • Develop a clear coexistence architecture strategy to manage the transition between current and target platforms during the migration phase.
  • Define and standardize ingestion patterns, including batch processing, Change Data Capture (CDC), real-time streaming, API integrations, and file-based ingestion methods.
  • Review and assess dependencies on existing technologies such as Oracle, GoldenGate, Informatica, MDM, DQ, Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC)/Axon, and BI platforms.
  • Establish and enforce architecture standards for data modeling, data security, metadata management, data lineage tracking, data quality assurance, and data lifecycle management.
  • Provide guidance on technology selection and strategies for licensing optimization.
  • Review and approve key data architecture artifacts, including data models, integration designs, ETL/ELT designs, and BI semantic models.
  • Ensure the target architecture is designed to effectively support regulatory reporting requirements, enterprise analytics initiatives, and future use cases involving Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Collaborate effectively with the Data Architect team, Technical Data Lead, Business Analysts, ETL Developers, BI Developers, Platform Administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful implementation.
  • Support architecture transition activities by ensuring a thorough understanding of current-state logic before it is migrated, simplified, or retired.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Demonstrated strong experience in enterprise data architecture and data platform modernization.
  • In-depth knowledge of ODS, DWH, lakehouse concepts, data marts, semantic layers, BI principles, MDM strategies, and data governance frameworks.
  • Proven experience working with platforms such as Oracle, Informatica, GoldenGate, Power BI, MDM solutions, DQ tools, and EDC/Axon, or similar enterprise-grade technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms and lakehouse architectures, including but not limited to Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • A solid understanding of Change Data Capture (CDC), ETL/ELT processes, data streaming technologies, metadata management, data lineage, and data security best practices.
