Job description
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer with a solid background in fit-out and general contracting within the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services essential for construction projects. This role requires deep market knowledge, vendor management skills, and the ability to ensure timely procurement aligned with project schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Planning & Strategy:
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements.
Identify material requirements based on project specifications and BOQs.
Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and technical teams for procurement needs.
Vendor & Supplier Management:
Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors.
Build and maintain relationships with local and international vendors.
Negotiate contracts and terms to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
Material & Equipment Procurement:
Source and procure materials for fit-out works (*, joinery, MEP fixtures, finishes, furniture, lighting, etc.) and general construction items (*, concrete, steel, mechanical components).
Ensure compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and project requirements.
Cost Control & Budgeting:
Maintain cost control measures by comparing vendor quotes and ensuring adherence to project budgets.
Prepare and issue purchase orders and track procurement costs.
Logistics & Delivery Coordination:
Monitor delivery schedules and coordinate with logistics teams for timely receipt of goods.
Follow up with vendors on shipping, documentation, and customs clearance (if applicable).
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain complete procurement documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with local KSA laws and regulations.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 10 years in fit-out and construction procurement, preferably within contracting / fit out companies.
Location: Must be currently residing in Saudi Arabia and available for immediate joining or who willing to relocate.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of fit-out materials, construction systems, and vendor landscape in KSA/GCC.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems (*, Oracle, SAP), and procurement software.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with high-end interior fit-out and fast-track construction projects.
Knowledge of local market pricing and import/export procedures in Saudi Arabia.
Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
